Bi 439 Conservation Genetics

An understanding of the application of genetic data to questions in ecology and conservation biology is the primary method we have to infer the evolutionary potential of populations. There are many problems we face in conservation that cannot be sufficiently addressed using traditional field sampling and analyses. Our goal in this course is to come to a deeper understanding of practical applications of genetic data for conservation of biodiversity and the implementation of prudent management decisions for the long-term persistence of species and genetic diversity.
