Mus 113 Music Theory III

Analysis and composition of harmony, melody, texture, and phrase structure in multiple styles. Introduction to basic principles of form; secondary dominants and modulation; important clave and time line patterns in Latin and African diasporic music; basics of notation software. Simultaneous enrollment in MUS 116 and MUS 193 is recommended for most music majors and minors. This is the third course in a sequence of three: Mus 111, Mus 112, and Mus 113.
