Ph 551 Electron Microscopy

Electron optics theory, specimen preparation and experimental work with transmission and scanning electron microscopes, Microchemical analysis with an energy dispersive spectrometer. Specimens from all the sciences. Two lectures, one 3-hour laboratory period. This is the first course in a sequence of two: Ph 551 and Ph 552. Also offered for undergraduate-level credit as Ph 451 and may be taken only once for credit.
