Soc 320U Globalization

Examines the worldwide changes loosely termed globalization, with particular emphasis on economic globalization and its social and environmental effects. Analyzes the relationship between societies of the global North and the global South, taking into account the impact of history. Critically examines the concept of development, and how globalization has changed the relationship between governments and citizens. Explores responses and countermovements to the dominant model of economic globalization, as well as alternative development models.
