Hst 388 Global Histories of Disability
Disability, as both historical phenomenon and cultural construction, has shifting meanings over time and space. It is interwoven with broader social developments in medicine and technology; wars and colonialism; capitalism and labor; media representations; social activism and the disability rights movement. Through the lens of intersectionality and the lived experiences of disabled people all over the world, we will examine disability in relation to gender, race, class, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, and ableism.
