Fin 565 Applied Financial Decisions

This applied course aims to deepen understanding of the strategic issues and techniques associated with financial decisions using methods such as case and project analysis. Extensive spreadsheet modeling and risk-based tools are an integral part of the course. The perspective is that of the CFO decision maker, whose role has evolved to encompass not only financial, but strategic and stakeholder considerations. Topics may include sustainability and its application in finance, risk management, capital budgeting, financing decisions for established and entrepreneurial firms, special topics in firm valuation, working capital, and estimation of cost of capital. Due to the comprehensive nature of the issues addressed and methods employed, it is considered a capstone course and is best completed towards the end of a students graduate program.
