ESM 558 Snow Hydrology

Snow is a key component in the hydrologic cycle of our planet. Approximately half of the North Hemisphere land surface is covered by snow during the winter. Mid-latitude mountain regions receive most of their annual precipitation in the form of snow. Snowmelt provides water for irrigation, hydropower, and ecosystems and it is also important for winter recreation. This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles and techniques of snow hydrology science and applications.
