CCJ 585 Crimes of the Powerful
Advanced study of white collar crime and deviance including corporate, governmental, occupational, and professional/organized criminal behavior. Examples include: violations of environmental, safety, health, and labor laws; finance crimes; corporate abuses of power, fraud, and economic exploitation; cybercrimes, crimes of globalization; and violations of the public trust. The final class section will delve deeply into law and the social control of white collar crime; regulating and policing white-collar crime; and prosecuting, adjudicating, and public policy responses to white collar crime.
