Art 392 Painting

Provides instructions using traditional and contemporary painting techniques with acrylics and/or oil to broaden visual vocabularies in relation with technical and conceptual options. Studies from models and/or still life will be practiced while learning how to verbally articulate formal, aesthetic, and conceptual goals for a painting or painting project. Through individual and class critique discussions, students will apply the varied conceptual processes involved in the practice of painting as a means for independently generating and resolving meaningful visual ideas with the awareness of historical and contemporary visual culture. Students will learn the significance of creating a series or sequence of works, which will develop an idea over time.
