Bilingual Teacher Pathway (BTP) Program
The College of Education offers a teacher preparation program for bilingual/bicultural individuals who are seeking a Preliminary Teaching License at the elementary level. Additionally, the BTP program admits paraeducators through a GYO Model with partnering school districts.The BTP program consists of 56 credits and 13 credits of field experience. This includes 18 credits of Dual-Language specialization courses that are integrated into the program plan of study. BTP teacher candidates now have the option(with advisor approval) to pursue an ESOL endorsement and practicum increasing the program plan by 4 credits.. Required prerequisite classes should be completed prior to admission into the BTP program. Students may apply at the undergraduate (with a transfer of 90 credits from approved Education Transfer Map) or graduate level. BTP is a part-time program offering evening and weekend classes.
