Hst 312U African History Before 1800

An upper division course designed to survey the history of the African continent from earliest times to the period of the Atlantic slave trade. Using a lecture/discussion format, the course will examine the impact of trade, technology, and ecology on the transformation of African societies before 1800. This is the same course as BSt 305U and may be taken only once for credit. Recommended prerequisite: upper division standing.
