FILM 587 Topics in International Film and the Moving Image

Concentrated study of national cinema (non-US) or national cinema movement. Students will consider the cinema in relation to: national context and cinematic history; other national/transnational cinemas; and independence and nationalism, censorship, and political and artistic movements. Examples include Irish Cinema, Italian Neorealism, and New Wave Cinemas. Also offered for undergraduate-level credit as FILM 487.
