ECE 549 Power Systems Design

Design fundamentals as applied to power systems. Electrical design: electrical equipment, insulation, protection, grounding. Mechanical design: clearances, siting, support structures. Right-of-way. Asset management. Commissioning. Applicable codes and standards. Course topics will be taught by focusing on a particular subset of power systems such as transmission, distribution, substations or generation. Also offered for undergraduate-level credit as ECE 449 and may be taken only once for credit.
