CS 565 Server-side Applications: Construction and Analysis

Covers the basics of writing both CGI-Bin and client-side scripts for the World Wide Web. Topics include the Client-server Model used by the World Wide Web; server-side programming; client-side programming; security and accessibility concerns; HTTP protocols; and human-interface issues on the World Wide Web. Also offered for undergraduate-level credit as CS 465 and may be taken only once for credit. Expected preparation: programming ability equivalent to CS161 as well as familiarity using UNIX or Linux, and some familiarity with creating simple HTML files. The course may not be used as part of the departmental degree requirements for either the BS or the MS degrees in Computer Science.
