SW 526 Social Work and the Law

Topics include an overview of the legal system, the legal basis of the professional relationship, confidentiality and legal privilege, informed consent, the right to treatment and entitlement of mentally disabled and HIV positive persons, professional malpractice and other legal liabilities—including termination and abandonment—social welfare law, family law and adoption, and unlawful discrimination.
