PS 432 Great Tribal Leaders

Course is based on videotaped interviews with contemporary American Indian leaders discussing the personal and social forces that shaped them and the roles they played in shaping federal Indian policy, law, and natural resource management. Key areas of study include historic eras of federal Indian policy; the exercise of power by federal legislative, judicial, and executive branches and their affects on tribal lives and societies; the continuing survival of tribes; and the evolution of tribal governments to meet unforeseen and overwhelming challenges.
