PS 362U Arab-Israeli Conflict

Examination of the conflicting ideological perspectives, the formation of the state of Israel, rise of Arab nationalism, emergence of Palestinian nationalism, the Arab-Israeli wars, rise of Palestinian activism, diplomatic efforts at partial settlements, and possibilities of a comprehensive settlement. Special attention is given to those elements opposed to a final settlement of the conflict, both within Israel and among the Palestinian and greater Arab communities. Recommended prerequisite: PS 204, PS 205, or PS 361.
