ESM 583 Marine Conservation and Management

Students learn about three aspects of Earth's oceans. First, we discuss the state of the oceans, and ecological differences between marine and terrestrial/aquatic systems. Second, we discuss the major threats to ocean systems. Third, we focus on management and policy solutions, including focusing on protected areas and various other human dimensions of marine management . Students will participate in a real-world marine conservation or management group project identified by and in collaboration with a community partner.
