CPH 535 Leading People and Teams in Public Health

This course presents key theoretical principles and practices of leadership and team development in public health practice. The course will examine competencies of leadership identified by frameworks and standards in the field, including strategic planning and workforce development; problem-solving; team building and motivation; equity and social justice; change management and implementation; performance development and evaluation; ethics in public health leadership; and establishing and advancing ethical policies, standards, and practices. In-depth examination of these issues and skills-based competency exercises will bridge theory with practice to prepare students for leadership roles at the individual, organizational, and systems level in interdisciplinary health systems.
