Mus 571 Advanced Jazz Improvisation

Advanced concepts of jazz improvisation. Principles of pentatonics, diminished harmonies, inside-outside playing, synthetic scales, and free improvisation. Instructor approval required. Also offered for undergraduate-level credit as Mus 471 and may be taken only once for credit. This is the first course in a sequence of three: Mus 571, Mus 572, and Mus 573.
