Interaction of light with atoms, Maxwell Schrodinger analysis and rate equation approximations. Effects of gain, dispersion, and saturation in the design of laser amplifiers and oscillators. Also offered for graduate-level credit as ECE 592 and may be taken only once for credit. Expected preparation: ECE 331.
