CS 597 Sensor Networks

Foundations of sensor networks, with a focus on activity-based learning through a sequence of hands-on programming exercises with embedded devices with a high-level programming language. Basic building blocks in designing and deploying a sensor network application. Positioning and time synchronization of networked sensor devices, wireless communication characteristics of low-powered radios, energy conservation and harvesting, macro-programming a network of sensor devices and security. Also offered for undergraduate-level credit as CS 497 and may be taken only once for credit.

Prerequisite

Recommended prerequisites: Familiarity with computer systems concepts that could be satisfied by CS 200, CS 201. Familiarity with programming in C, C++ or Java. Familiarity with basic concepts in probability and linear algebra that could be satisfied by Mth 301 or equivalent.
