JSt 378U Pagans, Christians and Jews

Discusses the development and interaction of Roman paganism, Christianity and Judaism during the period of Late Antiquity. Topics will include education, philosophy, asceticism, ritual, religious law, the image of the holy man and the phenomenon of religious polemic in the Later Roman Empire (c. 250-600 CE). This is the same course as Hst 378U and may be taken only once for credit.
