PS 453 Power Transitions: Past, Present, and Future

Uses power transition theory to examine what elements contribute to global war. Creates a foundation for understanding why nations fight, when they fight, the outcome of wars, and the relationship between global and regional conflicts. Also explores the continuum of peaceful interactions at the global level, and how and when the next series of upheavals will occur in the international system. Expected preparation: PS 205.
