Ph 573 Alternative Energies

Starting with a review of global energy trends, this course will cover the major resources of alternative energies (hydropower, wave, tidal and wind energy, solar energy, nuclear fission and fusion), their characteristics, utilization and technology as well as environmental and public impact. Special attention will be given to photovoltaics and solar cell technology. Market developments will also be analyzed based on simple models. Also offered for undergraduate-level credit as Ph 473 and may be taken only once for credit.
