Mus 533 Orchestral Literature

A historical survey of the music associated with the symphony orchestra from the development of each orchestral instrument to the present day. Intensive study of those works of great significance is achieved through score study and analysis of several interpretations through recordings. Attention will be given to the practical application of orchestral literature in elementary and secondary teaching situations. Also offered for undergraduate-level credit as Mus 433 and may be taken only once for credit.
