Ling 480 Bilingualism

Survey of issues involved with bilingualism throughout the world. Explores the linguistic, sociolinguistic, and psycholinguistic aspects of simultaneous and subsequent acquisition of one or more languages. Includes perspectives of individual and societal bilingualism, and examines issues involved with bilingual language use, language processing, education, language planning, and language and identity. Also offered for graduate-level credit as Ling 580 and may be taken only once for credit.
