Geog 584 Cartographic Applications of GIS

Provides a general introduction to GIS by focusing on the mapmaking capabilities of GIS software. Topics include basic cartographic principles of visual communication and representation, how to turn geographic datasets into effective maps both for print and the web, and how to critique maps. Also offered for undergraduate-level credit as Geog 484 and may be taken only once for credit.
