FILM 580 Film Theory

A survey of film theory and criticism from their inception to the present day. Students are introduced to key concepts and major figures from Classical Film Theory (Eisenstein, Arnheim, Bazin) through Structuralism, Semiotics, Psychoanalysis, Feminism, and Cognitive Studies. Also offered for undergraduate-level credit as FILM 480 and may be taken only once for credit.
