Ec 450 Economics of Development

Examines problems of post-colonial legacy: underdevelopment and persistent poverty. Rapid population growth, uneven development, capital flight, dual economy, brain drain. Industrialization strategies, foreign trade, education and human capital, population slowdown, microcredit institutions, role of women. Also offered for graduate-level credit as Ec 550 and may be taken only once for credit.
