Bi 253 Principles of Biology

Study of the basic principles of living organisms. The course will study both plants and animals and topics will include cell structure, energy production synthesis, nutrition, genetics, evolution, classification, excretion mechanisms of response, reproduction and development, and ecology. Lab investigations will use laboratory, field study, and special readings. Four hours lecture and one 3-hour laboratory. This is the third course in a sequence of three: Bi 251, Bi 252, and Bi 253. Expected preparation: Ch 221, Ch 227 or concurrent enrollment in Ch 221, Ch 227.
