Art 321 Communication Design Studio IV

A sequence focusing on concept development and solutions for communication design problems. History, theoretical approaches, critical readings, group and individual critiques, and written assignments support visual design exploration. Art 320: Focus is placed on the narrative and information structures, Historical context and ethical design concerns are addressed.

Prerequisite

Prerequisites: Art 225 and and formal acceptance into the third year by Sophomore Portfolio Review. Art 321: Complex problems, focus on public communication, branding, and information design. Design strategy, creative briefs, project management, and team skills are applied to the conceptual problem-solving process. Prerequisites: Art 320. Open to non-majors who have prerequisites and consent of the instructor. These courses require that students furnish a laptop computer that meets the departmental standards in terms of hardware and software (see departmental website for requirements). This is the second course in a sequence of two: Art 320 and Art 321.
